Hey. Austin readers.

I'm going to Austin on Friday (that's the 16th) and staying until the 18th (Sunday). I'll try and get a hold of as many of you as I can between now and then so there can be happy fun gatherings (I can't promise I'll get you on stage with Dynamite Boy, but I'm fun nonetheless), but just toss that little bit of information in the back of your mind somewhere.

Too much funny for one day

First was Winnebago Man, now comes this:

1. Despite the lameness of the Comedy Central commercials, The Graham Norton Effect is a great show. I tend to like imported comedy, so if you don't find British people funny you might think it's stupid, but I happen to think it's late-night TV done right. I was laughing so hard at one point I rolled off the couch. New show to watch religiously.
2. www.rockpapersaddam.com
3. More ironic than funny, but after a week of democracy, Iraq has established martial law.

Buy this part! (tech post)

Quakecon/CounterStrike2/Doom3 upgraders, read this

Fatwallet has the details on a program being run by AMD:

You join their market reseller program ostensibly (you sign up as an "enthusiast" and thus don't have to have a company or resale license), take a "quiz" on the AMD64 tech, and once you get 15 of 20 questions right, they cut you a deal on some of their parts:

Athlon64 3200+ 512 cache
Asus K8V SE Deluxe
Stock heatsink/fan
And the parts are pre-assembled, even.

Grand Total: $179 plus shipping (came out to $192 for a forum poster).

Let's compare that to the same parts over at everyone's favorite parts emporium, Newegg:
Athlon64 3200+ 512 cache: $282
Asus K8V SE Deluxe: $118
Shipping: $0 (free ground)
Total: $400

If you're thinking of upgrading in the near future, GET THESE PARTS. Apparently this tactic is exploding in popularity and some people are getting their registrations denied, so just keep trying and it'll be worth the effort.

Update 7/10: Apparently this deal is no longer in effect, but if anyone has any success with it anyway be sure to let me know.

Tons of free time opened up

So I went to the first day of my second class at UTA (that's Arlington, kids), and it was god-awful. The professor must've had quick feet, because she sure as hell had been evading death for a long-ass time. She looked maybe 90, dressed like she hadn't bought clothes since 1930, and constantly talked in circles as if the whole class had the worst collective case of ADD in the history of humanity. After I told mommmy about this, she just told me to drop out, so I drove like a crazy man over to UTA to withdraw myself for the rest of summer and get at least most of mom's money back.

Other things I'm planning for summer:
-Work on the Worthington essay
-Learn some more piano (John Mayer and Something Corporate are coming along nicely)
-Volunteer for the DNC if there's something around here
-Do as many athletic things as possible
-Work out more, now that I'm out of excuses
-Catch up on my damn sleep.

All in all, I'm excited for the rest of summer. I'm a lazy bastard, yes, but I'm being productive with my life, so shut it.
